December 22, 2021
The future of the terraced landscape is studied in Cinque Terre
April 3, 2022During the second week of February, the first in-person meeting took place at the headquarters of the Cinque Terre National Park with the researchers of the University of Genoa, the managers of the works, the Fondazione Manarola, the representatives of the Cinque Terre Park and Legambiente to evaluate the progress of the works and the next actions to be carried out.
The day then continued in the intervention area where the cleaning works had been completed a few days earlier and it was thus possible to make a first evaluation of the works to be planned for the coming months.
In detail, the first cleaning interventions in lots 2A and 2B, started in December and now completed, made it possible to free the areas concerned from vegetation, bringing out the condition of the existing walls and giving the opportunity to the works managers to quantify the next restoration interventions.
The researchers of the University of Genoa verified the most suitable areas to host the monitoring stations, which will be four, and will be used to collect data and understand how climatic events affect the territory and how to improve the stability of the walls.
The work of the Fondazione Manarola continues, currently engaged in identifying the owners of lot 3, the largest, in order to have them sign the lease agreements.
Legambiente followed the part concerning communication while the Cinque Terre National Park coordinated the day.
